Mos Def - The Ecstatic 2009-H3X

A release date has been set for Mos Def’s The Ecstatic. The name for the Brooklyn emcee’s fourth album has been circulating ever since Mos announced it during a performance way back in 2007 but the drop date was elusive until now. The Ecstatic is scheduled to drop on June 9th on independent label Downtown Records, which coincides with the 10 year anniversary of his debut album, Black on Both Sides.

Two tracks from the album, “Life In Marvelous Times” and ”Quiet Dog,” have surfaced (watch and listen below) but little else. Information such as track listing, guest appearances and the album’s producers have been scant but we’re told that Mos will be unveiling additional details about his new album and upcoming U.S. tour in the coming weeks.
